Halloween 2011

We had a great Halloween this year even though it seemed like it was four days instead of one. That morning was the Halloween Parade at Plain City Elementary. Sammy was interested in the parade for a little while until he found the decorated pumpkins that they were having for a contest. We went to look at the pumpkins and found other little boys that began running up and down a ramp. It was amazing to see how many boys there were Sammy's age.

This was during Scripture reading Halloween Morning.

Rebecca's Class decorated Cakes for their activity. She was sad that she had to share it with the family. She said that she was hoping to eat it all.

Time or Trick or Treating! I had the chance to go out first with the kids. Sammy was way fun this year he would run from house to house singing his own made up Halloween Song. He slowed down as the night went on. We did half the neighborhood then came back home and Mike went out with the older girls.

After the kids get home from trick or treating they love to sort through their candy and watch "Mickey and the house of Villians".

Crazy Hair Day 2011

I had a chance to do Jolie and Rebecca's hair for Crazy hair day. Riley did not tell me when her crazy hair day was:( There is just something about being able to do whatever with the hair and not worry if it's perfect or not?

The Girls Piano Recital 2011

Rebecca and Jolie have been taking piano from Shannon Jensen. They had their first Piano recital at the Piano Gallery November 4th 2011. Rebecca Played "Minuet" and Jolie played "Ode to Joy". They had a camera that focused on their hands so that we could see it on T.V. It was really cute to see all these little hands playing these really big songs:) Afterwards Shannon gave each of them sugar cookies in the shape of music notes. We went and ate afterwards at Applebee's to celebrate!

The Ballard Family Halloween Party 2011

I decided to do another Halloween Party this year even though I would be running the Halloween Half the next day. I got a lot of great ideas of stuff I could do off of Pinterest and ended up doing only have of the things I wanted.  Mike was in charge of the drinks we had His Harry Potter Potions again which are really homemade root beer and cream Soda.  I had each family bring some soup. Then we had eyeballs which were actually pizza Rolls. The vegetable tray was in the shape of a Candy corn. I made home made Humus to go along with the Vegetables. I made a great pumpkin dip that you could dip apples or ginger snaps in. we put the humus and  pumpkin dip in hallowed out pumpkins. I also made a pretzel/ Reeses pieces trail mix.  I also made apple smiles out of apples and marshmallows.

We had the family dress up in costumes. Bree, Mike, and Evan came in the wizard of oz theme. I thought it was appropriate since we had put the wicked witch of The West Legs on our front porch for decoration.

The games we played were a pumpkin popping game where the kids would pop balloons that had glitter in them. The younger kids loved this game. It was like a pinata without the candy:) We also had another game called pin the heart on the skeleton. We had a guessing game with Candy corns. There were 650 candy Corns in a jar. Jolie was the only one to guess even close to that #. While the younger kids played the games the older girls were downstairs watching Bewitched and talking about boys!

Expanding Your Horizon's 2011

Riley had the chance to go to an all girl's conference. She was able to build model roller coasters, and was able to act as a chemist and make lavendar lotion. They fed her lunch and she got a t-shirt and a bag of goodies to take home with her. I think next year it would be fun if some of her cousins could come. The conference started  early in the morning and went to about 2p.m.

Rebecca's Basketball Game Nov 5th 2011

Rebecca played in her first game of the season at Lomond View Elementary. She had a really hands on coach this year and it seems that she gets involved in playing a lot more. They ended up winning their game even though we don't know what the final score was because the score board was broken. The star player ended up getting hurt, but that did not happen until the end of the game.

Sammy kept saying that he wanted to pay basketball too . He was quite the cheerleader for his big sister:)

Rebecca's Baptism January 3rd 2009

Well another one of our children entered the waters of baptism. I can't believe how proud I am of her making this commitment to her Heavenly Father. She was prepared to make it thanks to the help of the Ward Missionaries the Montgomery's for coming over and giving her the discussions. I can't believe how cute she was all dressed in white and beaming from ear to ear. I gave her the primary song book and had her choose all of the songs that we would sing. She ended up choosing a lot of christmas songs ( Which I loved hearing again) due to poor planning on my part I ended up leading the music while my sister Melanie played the piano. Bishop Saunders was there presiding which I thought was very nice. We had met with him the day before at the Seminary building of the highschool to get Rebecca's interview.
The Baptism was supposed to begin at 3:30, but due to a funeral they moved it back to 4pm. Unfortunately the family ran into a traffic jam caused by a fatal accident and we did not begin the baptism until 4pm...I want to thank everyone for their patience.. Grandma Ballard gave the talk on Baptism and Grandma Lamoreaux gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. They both did a really great job! After the baptism we had a get together at our house with soup and breadsticks. Grandma and Grandpa Lamoreaux could not make it, because of having to drive in the dark.. They did give Rebecca her baptism gift before they left. She had been looking forward to it all week. After the get together that night we opened the gift which was a new set of scriptures.. What a great day it turned out to be.. Congratulations Rebecca!

Christmas 2008

Well Christmas has come and gone. A lot of fun we had with family and friends. It was nice for me not being pregnant this year to be able to do Christmas Cards to all the people that we have known over the years. And for us as a family to go out and Carol. It was great to see the surprised look on the peoples faces. The girls did complain of the cold! this year we bought the girls their own Christmas trees to hang their ornaments on, So our Big tree looked rather bare. I also took each of the kids individually to the store to get each others gifts. Then they took turns helping me wrap them. We spent Christmas EVE at Grandma and Grandpa Lamoreaux's house where we had the usual Christmas Program. Of course this year instead of reading the Littlest Snowman we had the kids act it out.. Christmas day we enjoyed the morning opening gifts. Riley was excited to get a real camera instead of the toy one she has been using for over a year now. She also got a hand held harp that she can play. Rebecca got a huge remote control car from Santa. And a race to the mall car track from Mom and Dad. Jolie got a Hello Kitty Radio from Santa, and Art supplies from Mom and Dad. Last, but not least Sam got a fish aquarium for nights and a Basketball hoop for the days..This year Michelle got a Kareoke Machine that so far has been a huge hit with the family. After opening gifts we went to Grandma and Grandpa Ballards for a brunch and enjoyed spending the day with them. Of course our favorite day was the day spent after Christmas opening the gifts and actually being able to use them.. We hope that you have all enjoyed Christmas as well..
